Mr. Alva Delano “Del” Tinsley, age 83 of Chesnee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on December 11, 1939 in Spartanburg to the late Alva Astor and Hilda Imogene Trout Tinsley. He was the retired owner of A.A. Tinsley and Sons Auto’s in Spartanburg. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church; the Whitney Masonic Lodge, a graduate of Fruitland Bible Seminary and Gardner Webb University, a 1957 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, and was a United States Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dottie Tinsley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Mark Tinsley (Pam); his two daughters, Melonie Tinsley, and Lisa Tinsley; two sisters, Penny Pye (the late Harold Pye) and Sonya Henderson (Bruce); two brothers, Pat Tinsley (Jackie) and Roger Tinsley (Lynne); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00pm at the church with Roger Tinsley, T.J. Tinsley, and Pat Tinsley to officiate. Military entombment and graveside service will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be: Alex Elliott, Travis Carroll, Philip Burns, II, Payne Pye, Stephen Moore, Paxton Hazeres, Peyton Cole Tinsley, Christopher Kirby, and Easton Parris. Honorary pallbearers will be Boiling Springs High School Class of 1957.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his son, Mark Tinsley, 260 Overcreek Road, Chesnee, SC 29323.
