Belinda Irene Best, PhD.

Mrs. Belinda Irene Best, PhD., better known as "Linda" to her friends, age 80 of Landrum, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, August 9, 2024 at Upstate Community Hospice House of Landrum.

Linda was born on July 5, 1944 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Albert and Wilma McFarlin. Linda was known for her faith in God; for her love of all animals; and she enjoyed flowers, gardening, and helping people. She married her husband, Bill in 1967 and raised a son, Billy. In 1984, at the age of 40, she followed her dream and graduated from cosmetology school and worked in her home beauty salon. She felt the calling of the Lord in 1998 and graduated from Jacksonville Theological Seminary with a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Christian Psychology. She also held a degree in Christian education and was ordained in 1999.

Mrs. Best worked with several churches in Western North Carolina and counseled people in crisis. In her later years, she moved to Landrum to be with her son who cared for her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her brother, Von McFarlin.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Billy Best; her two beloved dogs; Izzy and Molly; and her lifelong friend, Donna Orr.

Graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 1:00pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, NC with Rev. Ronnie Pittman to officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
