Dorothy Hundley Hill

Mrs. Dorothy Hundley Hill, age 89 of Winston Salem, passed away on Friday evening, August 1, 2025 following an extended illness. 

She was born on October 6, 1935 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Ambrose Paul “A.P.” and Minnie Alldred Hundley. She had been an x-ray technician working for Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hill was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and of Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston Salem, NC and had been past member of Ardmore Moravian Church where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship; served as a Diener; and participated in the AMC Candle Tea. She and her sister, Nancy were known for the making of handmade miniature Moravian stars, many of which were sold at the Moravian bookstore in Old Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Hill; her brothers, Paul Hundley and Robert Hundley; and two sisters, Eunice Burge, and Nancy Lawhead; a nephew, Smitty Burge; and a niece, Pamela Burge.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gregory William Hill (Kay); three grandchildren, Nathan Cecil Hill (Madison), Benjamin Lanier Hill, and Ellison Ambrose Hill; her great-grandson, Thomas Cecil McCoy Hill; nieces, Bev, Jenny, and Marty Burge; the Lawhead families; the Stewart families; half-sister, Mollie Cline; many other nieces and nephews; and a family friend of Don and Dot’s, Chad Fann.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00pm at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Pastor Sam Gray to officiate. Graveside service and inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service at the church banquet hall.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Sandra for her care and comfort to Mrs. Hill.
