Duane Lee Turner

Mr. Duane Lee Turner, age 81 of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on January 9, 1942 in Spartanburg County and was a member of Church 247.

Duane graduated from Spartanburg High School in the Class of 1960, going on to graduate from Spartanburg Methodist College in 1962, later from University of South Carolina Upstate.  He was employed by Milliken Research Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 2000.  

Duane was an outstanding athlete in high school excelling in football, baseball, basketball and track.  He enjoyed hobbies ofgolf, any kind of ball, street rodding and related events over the years with older cars and friends.  During later years of declining health, he had these fond memories to remember.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lee and Christine Eaker Turner and an infant son.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Bootsie” Turner; two children, Lora Godfrey (Bill) of Roebuck and Ivey Martin of Spartanburg; a sister, Debra Turner (Dennis); four grandchildren, Maddison Martin (Josh), Morgan Parker (Tristan), Gage Martin, and Graham Martin; two great-grandchildren, Emersyn Martin and Sutton Parker.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August, 17, 2023 at 4:00pm in the chapel of Roberts Funeral Home (2610 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316) with Rev. Clay Houchins and Rev. Danny Garrett to officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spartanburg County Foundation - Spartanburg High School Class of ’60, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
