James Behanna Obituary

Mr. James Lewis Behanna, age 74 of Pelzer, passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, July 8, 2024 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.

He was born on March 12, 1950 in Greenville, SC to the late Grover Lewis and Evelyn Mae Williams Behanna. Mr. Behanna was a member of the Belton Gun Club and loved his guns, fishing, Clemson football, baseball, and the Atlanta Braves. He had been a welder for General Electric and was a United States Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Michelle Byrd, and one great-granddaughter, Magnolia Rae Rogers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra Behanna of the home; a daughter, Melinda Behanna of Pelzer; two sisters, Sandra Drafts (Ricky) of Cleveland, SC and Brenda Sellers (Jimmy) of Greenville; five grandchildren, James Rogers (Trinity) of Asheville, NC, Ashley Rogers (Leah) of Simpsonville, Corey Byrd (Jordan) of Lexington, Brooke Pulver (Deon) of Fort Stewart, GA, and Katlyn Behanna (Tyler) of Pelzer, SC; six great-grandchildren, Lily Rogers, Charles James Cole, Ezra Rogers, Elijah James Behanna, Rory Rogers, and Lawson Rogers; and his special friend since 1967, Linda DeGear.

The family will hold a private memorial service at the family home, 141 Pine Circle, Pelzer, SC 29669, at a later date.
