Justin Robert Johnson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a man whose life was far too short, yet profoundly full. Justin Robert Johnson, 37, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on May 16, 2026. At just 37 years old, Justin lived with a spirit that was larger than life; the kind of man who could make any place feel like home and any person feel like family. He embraced life with energy, laughter, and an unmistakable love for the outdoors, finding peace beneath open skies, up in deer stands, around campfires, on back roads, and anywhere nature could remind him what truly mattered.

More than anything, he loved deeply and was deeply loved. He was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, son, brother, grandson, uncle, and the kind of person whose presence made people feel seen, valued, and safe. His love was steady and genuine; shown not only in words, but in every act of kindness, every late-night conversation, every helping hand, and every moment spent making memories with the people he cherished most.

Though his passing leaves an unimaginable void, the impact of his life will continue to echo through the countless stories, adventures, laughter, and love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.

Born on June 29, 1988, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the child of Robert “Bobby” Boyd Johnson and Rhonda Lego. Justin graduated from Dorman High School, class of 2006, then attended Greenville Technical College. He went on to have a career with many landscaping groups throughout Spartanburg County before joining the Anderson Group.

In 2019, Justin married the love of his life, Victoria Christine Kimbrell, and together they built a life filled with over a decade of shared memories, loving farm animals, precious fur babies; Bella and the beagles, Bonnie and George. The love he shared with his wife is the kind of love you dream of and may think you could only find in a fairytale, but they lived it out together every day. With every dance in the kitchen, every trip to the river, every morning coffee on the porch, his memory will live on in their home forever.

Justin is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bobby” Boyd Johnson, his grandfather Robert “Bobby” Lee Burnett, and his Papa Jim Dukeman.

He is survived by his beloved spouse, Victoria Johnson; his mother, Rhonda Lego (Doug); sister, Tori Lego-Stribling (Austin); brother, Dylan Lego; maternal grandmother, Vicki Dukeman; paternal grandmother, Garie B. Johnson Beal (Steve); paternal grandfather, Donald E. Johnson, Sr. (Jo); Uncle Donald E. Johnson, Jr. (Christy); Aunt Ann Brobst; mother-in-law, Christine Kimbrell (Keith); sister and brother-in-law, Caitlin and Tyler Powell (nephew Carter Culp and niece Tinsley Powell); and many others he considered his true family.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, May 23, 2026 from 10:00am until 11:00am. at Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church, located at 3450 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with services immediately following at 11:00am at the church.
