Mary Sanders Taylor

Mrs. Mary Sanders Taylor, age 92 of Gowensville, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 10, 2024 at Rosecrest Lutheran Homes of South Carolina surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 17, 1931 in Greenville, SC to the late Claude Benson Sanders and Vera Jane Walker Sanders. She was the wife of the late Ansel McCoy Taylor. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Ellis Sanders; her sister, Irene Sanders Moorhead; son-in-law, Michael Atkins; and daughter-in-law, Julie Coffman Taylor.

Mrs. Taylor was a self-employed Shaklee Distributor and enjoyed helping people achieve their health and wellness goals. Mary began her nursing career as a registered nurse at Spartanburg General Hospital. She later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She then achieved a Masters degree in Nursing at University of Georgia. She taught nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate and at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons; Ansel M. Taylor, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Cumming, GA, and C. Daniel Taylor of Inman; two daughters Connie Taylor Hall (Greg) of Inman, and Heather Taylor Atkins of Gowensville; eight grandchildren, Jerry E. Stone, Tiffani H. Kapfinger (Karl), Benjamin M. Taylor, James M. Taylor (Meghan), John C. Taylor, Jacob C. Atkins (Anna), Rhetta A. West (Eric), and Jack D. Taylor; and six great-grandchildren, Oscar Kapfinger, Owen Taylor, Lily Atkins, Ally Atkins, Iris West, and Ruby West.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2024 at 1:00pm at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church with Dr. Hank Williams to officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
