Rev. Gary Glenn Adkins, age 82 of Chesnee, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 25, 2025 following an extended illness at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
He was born on October 26, 1943 in Spartanburg to the late Dewey Franklin and Evelyn Felmet Adkins. He had been a minister of the Gospel for 52 years. He had pastored Chesota Baptist Church in Erwin, TN, Casey Creek Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC, and most recently, First Baptist Church Valley Falls in Boiling Springs, SC. He was an Associate Pastor of Fairview Baptist Church of Spartanburg and was the Founder of Casey Creek Baptist Bible Institute of Chesnee, SC. He was also a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary Bible College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Duane Scott Adkins and Richard Brian Adkins; and his sister-in-law, Sherry Adkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Delores Adkins; six grandchildren, Caleb Scott Adkins, Jacob Coel Adkins, Nicholas Graham Adkins, Zachary Chase Adkins, Emma Katherine Adkins, and Brady Maxwell Adkins; three great-grandchildren, Mia Claire Adkins, Layton Coel Adkins, and Archie Storm Adkins; his brother, David Adkins; and two daughters-in-law, Sharon Adkins Kelley, and Resha Adkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Fairview Baptist Church, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 11:00am at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Childers, Dr. David Lancaster, and Rev. Frank Walker to officiate.
Graveside service and interment will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ty Childers, Rev. Gary Pruitt, and Rev. Todd Lyda to officiate. Pallbearers will be his five grandsons and his two nephews, Tommy Brewer, Jr. and Donnie Suttles.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 150 Beaver Creek Drive, Chesnee, SC 29323.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
