Rev. Robert E. Buhl, Sr.

Rev. Robert Earl Buhl, Sr. age 84 of Chesnee, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home following an extended illness.

He was born on January 9, 1941 in Knoxville, TN to the late Leroy and Hazel Hayes Buhl. He was a preacher of the gospel and was the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Etta Imogene “Jean” Milligan Buhl; his second wife, Betty Ragan Eggers Buhl, former owner of Eggers Funeral Homes; three brothers, Ronnie Buhl, Hubert Buhl, Jim Buhl; and his sister, Margaret Jo Owens.

Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Robert “Bobby” Buhl, Jr. (Glenda), William Buhl, and James “Jimmy” Buhl (Beth); two brothers, Tom Buhl (Sue) of Woodstock, GA and Jerry Buhl (Brenda) of Knoxville, TN; his sister, Dorothy Bailey of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12:30pm until 2:30pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 200 Sloans Grove Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Funeral services will follow at 2:30pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Adkins and Rev. Randall Osment to officiate. Special music will be provided by the Primitive Quartet.

Graveside service and interment will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 2:00pm at Shady Grove Community Cemetery, 3074 Miser School Road, Louisville, TN 37737 with Rev. Dwayne Gunter to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home or Tunnel of Towers.
